INTERNATIONAL ROUND TABLE ON THE DAY OF LOCAL SELF-GOVERNMENT IN UKRAINE


On December 9, 2022, the International Round Table "Local Self-Government in the Conditions of Recovery of Ukraine: Challenges and Prospects" was held at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Public Administration and Civil Service of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. People's deputies of Ukraine, representatives of central and local authorities, and representatives of local self-government bodies and their associations (executive directors), public organizations, Ukrainian and foreign scientists, PhD students and students took part in the work of the round table.

Welcoming speeches were made by: Volodymyr Bugrov, Rector of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, Professor, Excellence in Education of Ukraine, Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine; Oleksandr Korniienko, People's Deputy of Ukraine of the IX convocation, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine; Andrii Klochko, Chairman of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the Organization of State Power, Local Self-Government, Regional Development and Urban Planning; Serhii Tikhonov, Deputy Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine; Pavlo Kozyriev, Deputy Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine; Mykola Trehub, Acting Rector of the National Technical University "Dniprovska Polytechnic"; Yurii Andriichuk, Head of the Secretariat of the All-Ukrainian Association of Local Self-Governing Bodies "Ukrainian Association of District and Oblast Councils"; Algirdas Astrauskas, Professor at the Institute of Public Administration, Mykolas Romeris University (Lithuania).

Four sections worked within the framework of the work of the International Round Table: "Exercise of powers of local public administration bodies during war and management of crisis response to challenges", "European integration vector of community development", "Resistance, cohesion and ability of communities to rebuild", "Institutional capacity and professional competence". In the process of their work, the participants discussed the prospects for the development of local self-government in the conditions of martial law and the post-war reconstruction of the territories of Ukraine. In the mode of discussions, scientific and practical recommendations were given and a resolution was adopted.
