LAST WEEK, 4TH-YEAR POST-GRADUATE STUDENT VIRA PORIEVA MADE AN OFFICIAL VISIT TO BRUSSELS


At the personal invitation of the Heinrich Boll Foundation (Brussels), as an expert, Vira Porieva joined the discussion "An urgent and green recovery for Ukraine – Ensuring swift response and long-term perspectives". Discussions between EU parliamentarians, representatives of analytical centers, public organizations of the EU and Ukraine took place according to Chatham House rules. During the discussion, Vira Porieva, as the leader, presented the results of the international project "International environmental diplomacy: results of the study of the impact of military actions on the quality of soils and water bodies of national parks of Ukraine", which was carried out as part of the work on her dissertation research "Participation of public organizations in processes of formation and implementation of EU environmental policy: experience for Ukraine". She proposed concrete tools of public administration for the restoration of the natural reserve fund of Ukraine, which can be supported by European partners in the future.

Also, Vira Porieva, as the head of the international environmental project, received an invitation from the European Environmental Bureau to meet with the Deputy Secretary General and the director of management, sustainable development and global policy of the EU, Patricia Heidegger.

During the meeting with Ms. Patricia and her colleagues, the annual results of the international environmental project were presented and possible ways of further cooperation between the public organization from Ukraine, represented by Vira Porieva, which has made its way from the local level to the expert-analytical center with international participation, were discussed. The marked progress in work and institutional development became possible thanks to Vira’s use of the theoretical research of her own dissertation research.

At the end of the meeting, Vira Porieva received an invitation to participate in the annual Conference "European Environmental Beruea 2023: Our common future: for a European Green Deal 2", which will take place soon in Amsterdam.
